Collect car at Venice Marco Polo. Airport is closer to Misurina / Tre Cime than to Ortisei. Begin east, then transfer west.

East: 2 nights + West: 2 nights

East base for Cadini, Tre Cime, Misurina. West base for Seceda, Giau and Siusi.

Priority

Cadini + Giau

If weather or fatigue hits, prioritize Cadini sunrise and Passo Giau milky way first.

Key booking: book Rifugio Auronzo / Tre Cime car access for the earliest available morning slot, ideally around 05:00.

Day 3Recovery · transfer west

Day 5Siusi sunrise · Venice return

Rifugio Auronzo

Book earliest morning entry around 05:00. Budget €40. Use it for Cadini sunrise and short Tre Cime visit in one window.

Safe astro

Lago di Misurina

Car-close shooting. Budget €0–10 depending on exact parking spot. Best for testing astro settings.

Main astro

Passo Giau

Roadside parking is generally free. Drive before full darkness, then wait for the Milky Way window.

Sunset

Seceda

Requires Ortisei lift + parking. Confirm last lift-down time before relying on sunset.

Sunrise

Alpe di Siusi

Private car access is restricted; early entry is the key. Check 2026 P1/P2 reservation requirements.

Rule

Do not improvise at midnight

Mountain access, gates and parking systems are not designed for random midnight entry.

Accommodation

Misurina / Dobbiaco / Cortina

Best for plan: Misurina if not overpriced.

Best value: Dobbiaco/Toblach guesthouses.

Convenience: Cortina, but usually more expensive in July.

Filters: free parking, late check-in, flexible cancellation, breakfast or kitchen access.

West · 2 nights

Siusi / Castelrotto / Ortisei

Best for Seceda: Ortisei.

Best budget/value: Siusi or Castelrotto.

Avoid: staying too far in Bolzano/Bressanone unless price difference is large.

Filters: parking, short drive to Alpe di Siusi access, easy evening food.
